Sirena Hotel

Grounded in the region’s architectural legacy, local materials, and the character of the Adriatic.

Hotel Sirena sits in a bay close to Hvar’s old town, where Mediterranean nature, history, and coastal culture come together. The hotel has a main building with the reception and restaurant, surrounded by five pavilions. Its renovation is inspired by local architecture, materials, and the spirit of the Adriatic.

The architecture uses Dalmatian stonework and limestone, shown in exposed walls and coastal shapes. Roman and Venetian archways reflect the area’s long maritime history. Austro-Hungarian touches like parquet floors, detailed mouldings, and large windows add a sense of history to the building.

Inside, traditional materials help connect the hotel to its location. Carved wood, wicker, terracotta, stone, and handmade ceramics add texture and warmth. Linen and wool, which have long been used in local clothing, are used in the furniture and details, giving the spaces a sense of local heritage.

"The result is a story rooted in culture, craft, and landscape. The interiors feel timeless and closely tied to the Adriatic and the textures of coastal Croatia".

The colors come from the Croatian landscape. Coastal whites, beiges, and sun-faded shades blend with warm terracotta. Deep greens and browns from inland areas create a calm, natural atmosphere inside.

Patterns and designs show off the region’s rich culture. Engraved Glagolitic script appears as art. Neoclassical touches inspired by Plečnik add style. Pag and Lepoglava lace decorate curtains and tables. Ceramics feature local plants and animals.
